Pomeroy to resign as Upshur administrator

BUCKHANNON- Upshur County Administrator Megan Pomeroy announced Wednesday she will be resigning from her post at the end of June.

If approved at today’s Upshur County Commission meeting, Pomeroy’s last day will be June 27.

“Hopefully, they’ll have time to post it and advertise to replace me in that time period,” Pomeroy said.

She said she is resigning because of an opportunity that arose in her household, which will take her out of state.

“My significant other received a promotion at work, and it’s going to take us, unfortunately, outside of West Virginia,” Pomeroy said. “It came up kind of suddenly, so I will need to start looking for (job opportunities) myself.”

Pomeroy began work as the county administrator in September 2012 after the sudden resignation of then-county administrator Willie Parker. Parker cited personal reasons for his resignation after 20 years on the job.
