Trumpeteers announced

The 78th Mountain State Forest Festival has announced the selection of Royal Trumpeteers Alex Mach, Dylan Winans, Erik Winans and Erica Woods. The four Randolph County students, having earned the distinction through an audition process, will have the honor of announcing the arrival of Maid Silvia and her royal court throughout the festivities.

Mach is the son of Greg Mach and Rachel Hayes of Elkins. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jerry Mach of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Terry and Susan Hayes of Elkins. He has two siblings, Heidi Mach and Savannah Gannon.

Mach, a junior at Elkins High School, is an honor roll student, plays trumpet in the EHS band and plays Jerry West basketball at the YMCA. He plans to go into engineering in the future. This is his third year serving as Trumpeteer.

Dylan Winans is the son of Robert and Tonya Winans of Huttonsville. He is the grandson of Mary Winans and Fran Mosser, both of Elkins, and Rita Cool of Huttonsville. He has one brother, Erik.

Dylan, a junior at Tygarts Valley High School, is part of the West Virginia All-State Honors Band, Randolph County Honors Band and TVHS Band, where he is section leader. He is an avid outdoorsman who loves four-wheeling, hunting and baseball. He plans to continue with music education in the future.

Erik Winans also is the son of Robert and Tonya Winans of Huttonsville. He is the grandson of Mary Winans and Fran Mosser, both of Elkins, and Rita Cool of Huttonsville. He has one brother, Dylan.

Erik, a freshman at Tygarts Valley High School, is a member of the West Virginia All-State Honors Band, Randolph County Honors Band and is a TVHS Band member. He also is a Tygarts Valley football player and member of the Chess Club. He loves sports and four-wheeling. He plans to further his education in music.

Woods is the daughter of Paul and Jennifer Woods of Mill Creek. She is the granddaughter of Don and Della Brown, of Valley Head, Ronald and Debbie Bennett, of Huttonsville, and Earl (Joe) and Francis Woods of Elkins. She has four brothers, Austin, Jacob, Adam and Ryan.

Woods, a sophomore at Tygarts Valley High School, is a member of the band and color guard at TVHS and also serves as assistant drum major. The honor roll student is part of Glenville State Hidden Promise Scholars, plays basketball and softball and enjoys four-wheeling, camping, swimming and spending time with friends. She is a member of Valley Independent Baptist Church. She plans to become a nurse.
