Park Party in Parsons tonight
PARSONS – Mill Race Park in Parsons will be filled with fun, games and music today as Mountain Hospice presents the End of Summer Park Party beginning at 4 p.m.
The event is sponsored by Mountain Hospice, Performance Motors, PRO/ONTRAC and the city of Parsons.
“We will have a dunking booth, friendly competition games, corn hole, horseshoes, a cake walk, face painting, food, a hula hoop contest and many more activities,” said coordinator Kelly Pennington. “The Davisson Brothers Band will take the stage at 6 p.m. for a free concert.”
Michael Elza, Mountain Hospice director of marketing and public education, said proceeds will benefit the Mountain Hospice patient support fund.
“No one is ever turned away from hospice because of their inability to pay for services,” Elza said. “Our fundraising efforts add to this fund to help us take care of those in need.”
Elza said there will be memorial lanterns for purchase that can be released.
“People like to buy those and write a message to a loved one who has passed,” Elza said. “We hope everyone will stop by and enjoy the evening.”
Mountain Hospice provides services for patients in seven counties. Elza said they serve an average of 80 to 95 patients on a daily basis.
