Elkins man facing felony drug charge

ELKINS – An Elkins man is behind bars after allegedly being found in possession of controlled substances.

Tyler Dayne Fehrenbach, 24, is charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver. He is currently housed at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court by Senior Patrolman B.D. Tice, of the Elkins Police Department, at approximately 5:12 p.m. on Thursday, responded to the Seneca Mall parking lot near Kerens Avenue in Elkins.

Upon arrival, Tice approached a Ford Expedition where Fehrenbach, who had a warrant out for his arrest, appeared to be passed out in the driver’s seat, according to the complaint. The officer proceeded to wake up Fehrenbach, who then placed what was believed to be drug paraphernalia on the floorboard of the vehicle.

Once Fehrenbach was placed into custody by Tice for an active domestic warrant through the Elkins Police Department, the officer proceeded to search the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a small, plastic bag that appeared to contain heroin, the complaint stated.

After the vehicle was towed from the scene and a search warrant was obtained, officers found two plastic bags containing what appeared to be cocaine. The substances found in the bags were later confirmed as cocaine after testing. In addition, one plastic package containing what was believed to be methamphetamine was also discovered, according to the complaint.

A digital scale, a “package of small finger rubbers that could be used for packaging and selling of illegal narcotic/drugs,” two “glass bongs that are typically used for smoking illegal narcotics/drugs,” a plastic container of coins, black Motorola cell phone, and a cell phone SIM card were also found during the search. Tice noted in the report that the coins were collected to possibly be identified by another officer of the Elkins Police Department for an ongoing investigation, the complaint states. During processing, Fehrenbach was found with $345 in his possession.

If Fehrenbach is found guilty, upon conviction, he may be imprisoned in a state correctional facility for no less than one year but no more than 15 years, or fined no more than $25,000, or both.
