Man charged with domestic battery in Upshur County

BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon man was arrested Sunday after a physical altercation at a residence on Tucker Street.

Jamie Allen Gibson, 45, was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Cpl. Nicholas Caynor, of the Buckhannon Police Department, wrote in his criminal complaint that Gibson allegedly made physical contact with enough force to cause injury to a female acquaintance. After an argument turned physical and the victim slapped him, he back-fisted her, bloodying and swelling her lip, the complaint said. She had additional red marks on her arm and shoulder.

Gibson had no physical signs indicative of the confrontation, Caynor said.

In a separate incident:

• A Buckhannon woman was arrested Friday after being charged with two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The criminal complaint, filed by T.A. Menedez, of the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police, alleges that Lilah Renee Michael conspired with a 15-year-old female to lie to the child’s mother about her whereabouts.

Michael allegedly allowed the girl to ride her school bus to Michael’s residence on two separate occasions without permission from the girl’s mother. The girl lives with her aunt and uncle, who gave statements to police that they were led to believe the girl’s mother knew where she was.

According to the complaint, Michael and the 15-year-old are allegedly involved in a romantic relationship and the girl showed up at school with “sucker bites” all over her neck.

Michael is being housed at Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bond set at $10,000.
