Area man charged with escape

BUCKHANNON — An Upshur County man is incarcerated on a $210,000 bond after being charged with three felonies.

Allen Blake Wolford, 26, of Buckhannon, is charged with one felony count of escape from custody, one felony count of third-offense domestic battery and one felony count of daytime burglary. He is incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $210,000 cash or surety bond, set by Upshur County Magistrate John Coffman.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Upshur County Magistrate Court by Cpl. N.D. Caynor of the Buckhannon Police Department, on Feb. 19, Wolford entered a Cleveland Avenue residence.

While inside the home, which belongs to a previous romantic partner with whom he shared a child, Wolford began “demanding to know where ‘he’ was” and searched the home to “‘beat up’ an unknown (imaginary) male,” the complaint states.

While searching for the unidentified male, Wolford “slammed” the alleged victim’s head against the wall and caused scratch marks on her chest, the complaint states.

The alleged victim complained of head pain hours after the alleged altercation. Wolford has two prior domestic assault convictions with dates of March 11, 2016, and Nov. 7, 2016, police said.

On Feb. 23, while being taken to a police cruiser by Lt. D.N. Loudin, also of the BPD, to be transported to TVRJ, Wolford “took off running and fled several blocks,” the complaint states.

After escaping, Wolford attempted to cross the Buckhannon River, behind the Buckhannon Street Department, before being taken into custody, according to the complaint.
