New MedExpress offers open house

Center Manager Julie Simmons cuts a celebratory ribbon at the MedExpress open house in Elkins on Tuesday with representatives from the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce and MedExpress officials.

ELKINS — In celebration of its grand opening, MedExpress invited the public to an open house on Tuesday where individuals could enjoy tours and meeting with staff members.

Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce President Hoy Ferguson complimented the new facility in addition to expressing the need that the community of Elkins has for the center.

Dan Neely, regional vice president of MedExpress, said in a press release, “Our newly constructed neighborhood medical center will continue to provide a full scope of urgent care and other services connected to an even more convenient location within the Elkins community. This will enable our patients to get in, get what they need, and be on their way without having to make multiple trips.”

The center, connected to Walgreens in Elkins, will continue to provide care for people of all ages, offering a variety of services.

MedExpress Area Manager Tracy Martin said, “MedExpress is always looking for opportunities to be more convenient for our patients, and having this partnership in the same building with Walgreens, we think that is just going to add to what we can offer our patients every day.”

“With Walgreens and MedExpress, what a great partnership that you all have. It’s an attribute to what two businesses can do together,” Ferguson said.

Staffed with a full medical team including radiologic technologists, medical providers, nurses and customer service representatives, MedExpress in Elkins will serve patients everyday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The facility in Elkins includes multiple exam rooms in addition to a procedure room and X-ray suite. Everyday services will include the following: treatment for cold, strep and flu, broken bones, sprains, dehydration, burns and cuts.

In addition to offering treatment for injuries and illness, the facility will also offer other services in an effort to provide patients with basic wellness and prevention services to help them maintain good health.

MedExpress will provide health services for local employers — including workers’ compensation, injury care, pre- and ongoing employment screenings, physicals and regulatory exams, according to a press release.

MedExpress will accept all major health insurance plans while also offering affordable pricing for people without insurance, according to the release.

MedExpress is a national leader in delivering high-quality, convenient, and affordable walk-in care that offers urgent care, employer health services, and basic wellness and prevention services to help ensure families and employers have access to patient-centric care when they need it, the release stated.

As what officials call a gift to the community, MedExpress will be providing free sports and camp physicals starting today through May 9.
