Officials are seeking volunteers for search
CANAAN VALLEY – Officials in Tucker County are seeking volunteers to help search for a man who went missing early Sunday morning. A Silver Alert was issued for Raymond E. Epling, 76, who was last seen in the area of Mirror Lake in Canaan Valley at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday. He suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and may appear confused, according to a release from the Tucker County Sheriff’s Office.
Epling is 5 feet 7 inches tall with blue eyes and white/silver hair. He was wearing a denim shirt with a “WV” logo and blue jeans. Epling does not have his glasses with him and will not be wearing them, as shown in the photo. Searches were conducted by Tucker County Sheriff’s Office, Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and local volunteers Sunday morning and early afternoon. By late afternoon, West Virginia State Police had joined the search and neighboring volunteer fire departments sent additional manpower. Mountaineer Area Rescue Group has been coordinating the search and has had volunteers on site since late Sunday afternoon.
