Forest Festival Royal Trumpeteers announced

ELKINS — Mountain State Forest Festival Director General Chad Shoemaker has announced the appointments of Abiel Gallagher-Reyes, Kyle Golden Murphy, Brooke Ashleigh Pritt and Juanita Kathleen Teter as Royal Trumpeteers for the 81st Mountain State Forest Festival.

Abiel Gallagher-Reyes is the son of Patrick Gallagher of Elkins and Kelly Reyes of Riverdale, Maryland. He is the grandson of Adrian and Alicia Reyes of Curaren, Honduras.

This will be Abe’s second year serving as a Royal Trumpeteer. Abe will be a junior this fall at Elkins High School. He is an honor-roll student and member of the Elkins High School band and has received both Math and Spanish Honors.

Kyle Golden Murphy is the son of James and Amy Murphy of Elkins. He is the grandson of Jean Weasenforth and Rod Dailey of Parkersburg, Golden Day of Elkins, Diana Day of Morgantown, Howard Murphy of Montrose and Roger Poland of Virginia. He has one sister, Michelle Murphy.

This is Kyle’s second year serving as a Royal Trumpeteer. In the fall, Kyle will be a senior at Elkins High School. He is an honor student and a member of the Elkins High Band. He is a past member of All-County Band.

He is an active apprentice at the Old Brick Playhouse and he is a member of the Rivers of Living Water Ministries. In his spare time, he enjoys raising rabbits and game birds. In the future, Kyle wants to attend a university where he can study medicine.

Brooke Ashleigh Pritt is the daughter of Derrick and Hollie Pritt of Montrose. She is the granddaughter of Ken and Brenda Pritt of Beverly and Clair and Trudy Carowick of Elkins. She has one brother, Jacob.

This is Brooke’s first year serving as a Royal Trumpeteer. In the fall, Brooke will be a sophomore at Elkins High School. She is a member of the Elkins High School Band. She enjoys playing softball and plans to attend West Virginia University, where she will pursue a degree in Radiology.

Juanita Kathleen Teter is the daughter of Ken and Amanda Teter of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Ralston Teter of Elkins and Larry and Brenda Coriell of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has one brother, K.J. Teter and two sisters, Stephanie Bucher and Jessica Shepherd.

This is Juanita’s first year serving as a Royal Trumpeteer. In the fall, Juanita will be a freshman at Elkins High School. She participates in Hi-Y, Girl Scouts and church activities. In the future, she wants to be a pediatric neurosurgeon.

The Trumpeteers will join Maid Silvia, Morgan Alyssa Stephens, who will be crowned as queen of the 81st Mountain State Forest Festival during the Royal Coronation at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Outdoor Amphitheatre of Davis & Elkins College. Attended by 40 princesses from around the state, two maids of honor and a minor court, she will receive her crown from Gov. Jim Justice in an outdoor ceremony.
