One injured in Harman accident

HARMAN — An accident in Harman sent one person to the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Deputy B.T. Sharp, of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, said that at approximately 12:51 p.m., a tractor-trailer — operated by Proudfoot Trucking out of Philippi — was traveling west on Route 33 when it struck a Subaru Forester traveling eastbound.

“It is believed, at this time, the Subaru Forester was attempting to make a left-hand turn and failed to see — or failed to yield the right of way — for the tractor-trailer,” Sharp said.

The driver of the Subaru was transported by helicopter from Harman for medical care. Sharp noted the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries but was not transported for treatment.

The identities of the individuals are not yet being released.

The incident remains under investigation by Deputy E.B. Carr and B.W. Cogar, both of the RCSO.

In addition to RCSO, the West Virginia State Police, Randolph County EMS, the Harman Volunteer Fire Department and the West Virginia Department of Highways assisted on the scene.
