Mabie woman arrested on sex abuse charges

ELKINS — A Randolph County woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly having inappropriate sexual relations with a 17-year-old.

Carrie Yokum, 31, of Mabie, is charged with one felony count of sexual abuse by parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child. She is free on a $75,000 cash or surety bond, set by Randolph County Chief Magistrate Ben Shepler.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court, between Feb. 10, 2016 and May 22, the alleged victim reported, during a forensic interview with the Randolph-Tucker Child Advocacy Center, that Yokum forced him to have sex with her on several occasions.

The alleged victim said on one occasion Yokum forced him to have unprotected sex with her, and said a second alleged sexual incident took place while he was waiting with her in her car at the bus stop, the complaint states.

When interviewed by police, Yokum said the alleged victim started “coming onto her” and “kissing her” on several occasions, and said he had performed a sexual act on her, according to the complaint.

If convicted, Yokum could be sentenced to not less than one nor more than five years in the state penitentiary.
