Search continues for missing person
PHILIPPI — Officials in Barbour County continue to search for a missing man.
Chief Deputy B.M. Carpenter, of the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, confirmed that a search has been ongoing since Tuesday morning for Michael Anthony Johnson.
Johnson was allegedly last seen around 6 p.m. Aug. 10 in the area of Philippi. The 5-foot, 9-inch tall, 150-pound African-American man was last seen wearing dark jeans, dark flannel, brown boots and a baseball cap, according to information provided by police.
Johnson has black hair, brown eyes and a ponytail.
Carpenter said crews have conducted an area search in addition to a water rescue search in the Arden Grade area.
He said crews plan to broaden their investigation as their search for Johnson continues.
In addition to the Sheriff’s Department, Philippi Volunteer Fire Department, Belington Volunteer Fire Department, Junior Volunteer Fire Department and Stonewood Volunteer Fire Department have assisted in the search.
