BEVERLY — Are you ready for the holiday season? The Beverly Heritage Center invites you to take a step back in time at Beverly Old-Fashioned Christmas. Join the celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2, for a day of seasonal fun for the whole family.

Start your day at the Beverly Heritage Center. Admission to the museum is free during the day’s festivities. Costumed docents will greet you in the gallery, where you will also find refreshments, children’s crafts and Santa’s mailbox. A special exhibit featuring early Christmas decorations will be on display. Father Christmas — the Victorian version of Santa Claus — will be available for meet and greet throughout the day.

From 1-3 p.m., enjoy traditional holiday instrumentals from the Mountain Winds.

Across the street, the Randolph County Museum will also be open for special off-season hours.

The Beverly Presbyterian Church will host its annual Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The luncheon includes homemade soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts. You’ll also find baked goods and craft items for sale. Bobbie’s — home of Sleepy Sheep Primitives — will be hosting a Christmas Open House with door prizes and food.

For a unique shopping experience, look no further than the Artisans and Antiques Pop-Up, located in the Beverly IOOF building in the center of town. Come see what our vendors have to offer. You just might find that one-of-a-kind gift.

At the end of the day, join with other community members at 5 p.m. for the Christmas tree lighting, followed by caroling in the town square.

Wrap up the day with a Contra Dance at 7 p.m. in the upstairs room of the Beverly IOOF building. Caller Joyce Rossbach will lead us in this early American dancing style. A newcomer’s introduction will begin at 6:45 p.m.

“There’s so much to see and do during Old-Fashioned Christmas,” said Darryl DeGripp, executive director of the Beverly Heritage Center. “It’s a great time to get into the holiday spirit and learn something about the past. We invite everyone to join us and make a day of it.”

Beverly Old-Fashioned Christmas will be held at the Beverly Heritage Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2, with Christmas tree lighting and Contra Dance to follow. For more information, call the Beverly Heritage Center at 304-637-7424 or email info@beverlyheritagecenter.org.
