RCHS fundraiser set for Saturday
ELKINS — Fancy Paws will host a special event Saturday, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Randolph County Humane Society.
Carrie Shupp, vice president of outreach for RCHS, said the mission of the Humane Society is to get their adoptable pets into loving homes.
“It’s very important to get as many of our wonderful, adoptable pets into homes as possible, and what better time to do it than the holidays,” Shupp said.
Wet Nose Photos — with photographer Jamie Queen of Buckhannon — will be at Fancy Paws in Elkins for professional pet photos Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m.
The cost of the photo shoot will be $25, and $10 from each session fee will be donated to the Humane Society. The $25 fee will include one 8×10 photo for each pet’s family.
“In addition to this event, Fancy Paws is hosting an off-site (adoption event) for the Humane Society, and we’re going to be there from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.,” Shupp said. “We’re going to be offering refreshments and, of course, adoptable pets.
“This is in conjunction with our ‘Home for the Holiday’ event, and there are adoption specials throughout the remainder of the year,” Shupp added.
Fancy Paws owner Ann Weber said there are simply too many animals in the shelter, and there are so many to be loved and adopted.
“There are too many to love, but somebody has got to love them,” Weber said.
The business owner said the professional pet photos will feature a variety of photo staging opportunities for all to enjoy.
“(Queen) is going to have different props and backgrounds,” Weber said. “In the afternoon session Santa will be here, so you’ll have the option of getting pictures of pets with Santa. This doesn’t have to be just pictures of pets, it can be parents or kids with their pets as well.”
Shupp said the next RCHS off-site adoption event will be held at Fancy Paws from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16.
