BUCKHANNON — Having trouble Christmas shopping for someone who isn’t in the holiday spirit? The Buckhannon Community Theater just may have the perfect gift.

For the second year, BCT is offering a caroling fundraiser, with proceeds from sales helping kick off the BCT’s 2018 season.

“We always do it at the end of the year, so that we can fund our next year’s productions,” said BCT’s fundraiser director, Lee Barbo. “It’s part of our funding. We do several fundraisers throughout the year.”

“Not only do you provide yourself or a loved one with a cherished memory, you also reap the benefits of helping to sponsor future shows,” reads a Facebook post from Barbo.

Six to 10 of the BCT’s Yuletide Singers, decked out in Victorian-era clothing, will perform classic Christmas carols at requested houses, organizations or private parties.

“We have a set of 14 carols that we sing, but we do take special requests,” Barbo said.

The time of the sessions range depending on the listeners. Due to cooler temperatures, performers will sing carols for 10-15 minutes at private homes, unless a request is made.

“If somebody wants to donate a little more to have a private event, we can sing as long as they want us to,” she noted.

As opposed to last year, when the caroling sessions were offered for just one weekend in December, Barbo said the sessions will be extended to5-9 p.m. every Saturday in December.

The last day for a caroling visit will be Dec. 23.

“I figure that would give us more days to allow us to accommodate people’s demands for carolers for whenever they’d be having their party or whenever they’d be having their family over,” she said. “It gives them options for caroling.”

So far, Barbo said the BCT has five orders scheduled for the upcoming fundraiser.

Offering these visits to the Buckhannon area is a way for BCT to be a part of the holiday season, she said.

“You’re always hearing people talk about loving the Christmas music and enjoying the shopping, and we’re trying to be a part of that by helping them get into the Christmas spirit or spread it however they like,” Barbo said.

The cost for a caroling session is $25; however, for special requests, donations will be taken.

Those interested can message BCT on Facebook to request a caroling visit and pay at the door. Payment in the form of a check will also be taken.

Just make checks payable to Buckhannon Community Theatre and mail P.O. Box 677 Buckhannon, WV 26201.

You can also make a request from a BCT board member and provide them with the payment.

For those who prefer to pay via PayPal, please send the payment to buckhannonct@gmail.com.

For all payment methods, also include the name and physical address of the recipient, your name, phone number and email address, the date you’d like a visit and a personal message you’d like passed on.
