Lady Colts advance in tournament

GRAFTON — Philip Barbour jumped out to a 28-11 lead by halftime Wednesday, before powering ahead for a 60-44 win over Clay-Battelle in the opening round of the Sam Board tournament hosted at Grafton High School.

The Colts (2-0) are now in the championship round, slated for Friday against the winner of Grafton versus Liberty.

Senior Adriana Christopher paced PB with 11 points, 7 boards and 4 assists.

Kasey Neville was the game’s high scorer with 19 points, and grabbed 8 rebounds to boot.

Dystonie Simmons fired up the nets with a trio of three-pointers on her way to 13 points in the scoring column for the Colts. McKenzie Carpenter dialed up 7 points and 6 rebounds.
