Randolph County man admits to failing to update offender registry

CLARKSBURG — A Mill Creek man has admitted to failing to update his sex offender registry, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Daniel Lee Vance, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of failure to update sex offender registration. Vance admitted to moving from West Virginia to Ohio and failing to update his sex offender registration. The crime occurred from July to October 2017 in Marion County.

Vance faces up to 10 years incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah E. Wagner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The United States Marshal Service investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
