Annual Fun Night coming up Saturday
ELKINS — The Rotary Club of Elkins invites community members to the annual “Fun Night,” which will take place Saturday at the Phil Gainer Community Center.
Brad Walters, Rotary vice president, said proceeds from the elimination dinner-style fundraiser will go back into local nonprofits and agencies through various grants.
“Of course, all of the proceeds we take in will go back out into the community,” Walters said Monday. “We gave out over $10,000 last year to various community projects. We funded 100 percent of the grants that were requested from groups” including the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library and the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA.
In addition, Walters noted the Rotary Club members also are working to generate funds to be used for an amphitheater in the Elkins Rail Yard.
Beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Chef James DeCarlo of Vintage Restaurant and Wine Bar will be preparing a delicious meal featuring the restaurant’s signature prime rib, baked potato and vegetable as well as pasta primavera. Vegetable, cheese and shrimp platters also will be featured as hors d’oeuvres during the event.
A silent and live auction will take place featuring exciting “big ticket” prizes including a Yeti cooler and golf package to the Raven Golf Club at Snowshoe Mountain, Rotary representatives said.
Tickets are on sale for $100 and can be purchased from any Rotarian or at Vintage. Beer and wine will be available during the event.
