Board approves levy rates

ELKINS — The Randolph County Board of Education voted to approve the schedule of proposed levy rates in a special meeting Tuesday.

The board voted unanimously to approve levy rates for fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, as recommended by Superintendent of Schools Gabriel “Gabe” Devono.

The assessed values, which are the same as FY 18, were prepared by Phyllis Yokum, assessor for Randolph County. Rates are set by the West Virginia Legislature during the regular session.

Proposed levy rates are as follows: 19.40 percent per $100 for class one property, 38.80 percent for class two property and 77.60 percent for class three and class four property. The total projected net tax collection for the year is $7,535,138.

The board will officially lay the levy during the 7:30 a.m. meeting scheduled for April 17.
