BOE votes on personnel moves

PARSONS — The Tucker County Board of Education has not yet hired a new superintendent of schools, but did vote on several personnel positions this week.

Tucker County Schools Superintendent Dr. Eddie Campbell will be taking on a new position next month as the superintendent of the Monongalia County school system, after resigning from his position at Tucker County.

Campbell has served as Tucker superintendent for seven years. He will start his new position in Monongalia County on July 1.

The board is still currently looking for new superintendent, reviewing applications.

This week the BOE met in a regular session to discuss hiring personnel for the 2018-2019 school yea, and made the following decisions:

• The board hired Kelly Reed to take the position of first grade teacher at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School.

• Courtney Nestor was hired for a teaching position in the science department for grades 5 through 8 at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School.

• Amy Moore was also hired at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School. She will fill the position of social studies teacher for grades 5 through 8.

• Stephanie Hood was hired for a math teacher position at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School.

• Hannah Evans was also hired at DTEMS, and will fill the position of .5 RTE Elementary Specials.

• Catherine Chambers will be filling a CTE math position at Tucker County High School.

• Christine Ward was hired as a special education teacher for the extended school year.

• Along with hiring professional personnel, the board also hired service personnel, including Robert Leard for the positions of custodian, truck driver and groundsman at the Tucker County Board of Education Annex.

• Burl Waybright was hired for the position of the Summer Program bus operator.

• In extracurricular and extra-duty assignments, Amber Kyle was hired for the head cheer coach position at Tucker County High School.

The board will hold its next meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Board of Education office.
