Flood waters hit Barbour County

PHILIPPI — Emergency responders were kept busy overnight Wednesday as rainstorms led to high water and flooding in parts of Barbour County.

High water was reported throughout downtown Philippi at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, and roads were reportedly washed out along Routes 38 and 92 near the Tucker County line, according to police scanner traffic.

After midnight, several residents reported water in their homes near Route 38, and there were also reports of water entering some businesses in Philippi.

At about 12:30 a.m., officials said they were considering closing Route 92, according to scanner traffic.
