Sex abuse case is going to grand jury
ELKINS — A Randolph County man accused of having inappropriate contact with two children in his care waived his preliminary hearing in Randolph County Magistrate Court.
Antoine Stevens Johnson, 42, of Elkins, is charged with one felony count of sexual abuse by parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child. He remains incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Rob Elbon.
Johnson’s waiver means his case will be bound over to the Randolph County Circuit Court for presentation to a grand jury and possible indictment.
Randolph County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Leckta Poling represented the state while Johnson appeared with Timothy Prentice as defense counsel. Elbon presided.
