Sewing in the Summer

The Inter-Mountain photo by Tim MacVean Eight-year-old Ruby Helm, of Gallatan, Tennessee, works to sew a quilt Wednesday afternoon at Elkins Sewing Center. Sue Pifer, Elkins Sewing Center owner, said there are three classes – one in the morning and two in the afternoon – each day this week as part of a camp the business has hosted for roughly 15 years. She added youngsters from West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, New York and other surrounding states are participating in this year’s classes and the Log Cabin Quilters Guild will put the quilts on display during the 82nd Mountain State Forest Festival.
