CommUnity Bonfire slated for Tuesday
ELKINS — The end of winter is drawing near and so is the CommUnity Bonfire!
Behind the Elkins Depot at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department will light a pile of old Christmas trees and an effigy of Old Man Winter — created by the Old Brick Playhouse Apprentices — ablaze.
You might be thinking a pile of dried out Christmas trees will only burn for 30 seconds, but JC Lumber Company has donated scrap lumber to help the bonfire burn a little longer and keep the fun going.
Local residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, an instrument if you want to jam, and a good spirit to the first-ever CommUnity Bonfire.
The event is being presented by JC Lumber Co., the city of Elkins, the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department, the Randolph County Development Authority and Elkins Main Street.
