McCutcheon joins news staff of I-M

McCutcheon

ELKINS — Eliana “Ellie” McCutcheon is a newly hired staff writer at The Inter-Mountain.

She will be covering a variety of topics and issues as a local reporter and photographer, and is eager to meet the public and looking for news tips and story leads.

She is an upcoming sophomore at Davis & Elkins College, majoring in English with a concentration in writing and a minor in communications.

McCutcheon is a graduated alum of Elkins High School, Class of 2018, and a former member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Creative Writing Club.

In her senior year of high school, McCutcheon competed at the Davis & Elkins Senator Leadership and Scholarship Day and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the college.

In addition to starting a highland dance group at D&E, she is a 10-year highland dancer and certified highland dance teacher. She enjoys spending time teaching the art form to children in the community.

In her free time, McCutcheon takes pleasure in being outdoors, reading, writing, baking and volunteering at the Randolph County Humane Society. She additionally enjoys spending time with her three dogs, Misneah, Emmie and Maxon.

McCutcheon is currently a member of the Zeta Kappa Xi sorority, which is associated with the Humane Society.

As a writer, her work was recently displayed as part of the spring writing showcase at D&E.

After completing her undergraduate degree, McCutcheon plans in continuing her education by attending graduate school and eventually obtaining her PhD. She intends to continue a career in journalism.

McCutcheon is the daughter of Mark and Khristi McCutcheon, the granddaughter of Calvin and Sandra McCutcheon and Sandra Armentrout, and a sister to Kaylea McCutcheon.
