Royal court jesters selected for 83rd Mountain State Forest Festival

ELKINS — The 83rd Mountain State Forest Festival has announced the selection of royal court jesters Hazel Lauren Jackson, Layla Denise Fletcher, Madison Grace Bender and Kendall Rayann Corley to the court of Maid Silvia LXXXIII.

The four Randolph County students, having earned the distinction through an audition process showcasing their talent, will have the honor of providing entertainment in the form of dance and tumbling through Festival activities from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6.

Jester Hazel Lauren Jackson is the daughter of Macy and Justin Jackson of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Terry Kelly and Bill Kelly of Grafton and Jim Jackson and Nicola Nieves of Elkins. She has one brother, Troy, and one sister, Ruby.

Hazel will be an eighth-grade student at Elkins Middle School this fall. She participates in track, and is a member of the Elkins Otters Swim Team and Tumble Time Gymnastics. She enjoys dancing with Dance by Farrah, taking sewing classes, playing in the band and is a member of Saint Brendans Catholic Church.

Jester Layla Denise Fletcher is the daughter of Levi and Denise Fletcher of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Barry and Andrea Fletcher of Buckhannon and Gary and Michelle Barr and Larry Gouer, all of Elkins. Layla has one brother, Lincoln, and one sister, Laney.

In the fall, Layla will be a seventh-grade student at Elkins Middle School. She is an honor role student, participates in soccer, track and choir and is a member of the Make It Shine Club. She is a long-time student at the Dance by Farrah studio, and tumbles at the Mountain Gymnastics Academy. She enjoys playing sports and spending time with her friends.

Jester Madison Grace Bender is the daughter of Craig and Justine Bender of Kingsville. She is the granddaughter of Neil and Kay Young of Montrose and Tom and Joy Bender of Kingsville. She has one brother, Jacob.

Madison will be an eighth-grade student at Elkins Middle School in the fall. She is an honor roll student and participates in Hi-Y, Band (two-year member) playing the flute, and is a cheerleader. Madison is a self-taught tumbler and enjoys playing the ukulele and photography. She aspires to become a surgeon one day.

Jester Kendall Rayann Corley is the daughter of Keith and Beth Corley of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Bonnie Batdorf of Elkins and the late John Kenneth and Jean Corley of Elkins. She has one sister, Alexa.

Kendall will be a sixth-grade student at Highland Adventist School in the fall. She is an honor role student and serves as a Student Association Representative for grades 5-8. Kendall is a competitive gymnast with Tumble Time Gymnastics. She hopes to become a lawyer someday.

Please join the jesters along with the royal court of Maid Silvia LXXXIII during her coronation on Friday, Oct. 4 at the outdoor amphitheater on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.
