Flash flood warning in effect

Rainfall Thursday afternoon quickly caused flooding in downtown Elkins, including Randolph Avenue, above, shown after 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 5:30 p.m. for northwestern Randolph and Upshur counties.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Rock Cave, Holly River State, Womelsdorf (Coalton), Alexander, Eden,

Helvetia, Pickens, Cleveland, Alton, Hacker Valley, Ellamore, Kanawha

Head, Ireland, Tallmansville, Centralia and French Creek.

A flash flood watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for Randolph, Upshur and Barbour counties, including the cities of Weston, Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Grafton,

Buckhannon, Philippi, Belington, Holly River State,

Webster Springs, Cowen, Snowshoe, Marlinton, Elkins and Harman.
