Montrose woman faces felony charges

ELKINS — A Montrose woman is facing felony charges after drugs were allegedly found on her person during a prison intake.

Carrie Delicia Phillips, 35, is charged with possession of a controlled substance inside a jail. Bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety.

According to the criminal complaint prepared by Trooper First Class D.T. Stallings of the West Virginia State Police, the officer received a complaint from the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on May 23 at approximately 8 p.m..

The report states that upon arrival, the officer spoke with Lieutenant Evans of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation and was advised that drugs and paraphernalia were found on Phillips during the unclothed body search during the intake process, including multiple pieces of a translucent, crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine in a clear glass canister in her bra and two glass smoking devices in her bag.
