United Way planning annual kickoff fundraiser
ELKINS — The United Way of Randolph County is preparing to host its annual Campaign Kickoff Auction.
The event, which will take place at First United Methodist Church in Elkins, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, with doors opening at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be available at the event.
The auction will feature hundreds of items and tens of thousands of dollars in new merchandise, including appliances, furniture, tools, jewelry and more.
“It takes all of us, working together, to create change in our region. United Way is the most powerful investment you can make in our communities,” said Karrah Washington, executive director for the United Way of Randolph County.
“Your contribution is pooled with gifts from other caring people to fund programs and initiatives that make a difference to people who are in need, and to create meaningful, lasting change,” she added.
The United Way of Randolph County funds local nonprofit agencies, with nearly 100% of the funds raised each year providing local support.
The 2019 partner agencies are the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Charities of West Virginia, Foster Grandparent Program, Helping Hand Clearinghouse, Elkins-Randolph County Library, Helvetia Library, Pioneer Memorial Public Library, Russell Memorial Library, Valley Head Library, Literacy Volunteers of Randolph County, Meals on Wheels, the Randolph County Homeless Shelter, the Randolph-Tucker County Children’s Advocacy Center, the Randolph County Family Resource Network, Randolph County Humane Society, the Randolph County Senior Center, Women’s Aid in Crisis, the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA and Youth Health Service.
