Irene Blanche Shaffer, 86, a resident of Georgetown Road in Dailey, passed from this life Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2013, Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins.
Irene was born Thursday, Aug. 19, 1926, at Valley Head, a daughter of the late Oscar C. Shaffer and Daisy Dumire Shaffer.
She was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and had worked as an office manager for Randolph Real Estate and as a job developer for seniors. She was a founding member of Landmark Baptist Church in Elkins.
Surviving her are her two daughters, Pamela Lewis of Cornelius, N.C., and Sue Bennett and husband, Wayne, of East Dailey; five grandchildren, Nathan Lewis and companion, Seana Stevens, Jason Lewis, Kelly Blake and husband, Rick, Nicole Herron and husband, R.J., and Garrett Bennett and companion, Ila Kerns; and five great-grandchildren, Hunter Blake, Lindsay Blake, Trei Davis, Bryson Herron and Cora Herron.
Irene was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by six brothers, Howard, William, Homer, Ralph, Kenneth and Gilbert; and four sisters, Mary, Agnes, Doris and Freda.
Visitation will be conducted at The Randolph Funeral Home Thursday, Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. to noon, the funeral hour. Pastor Ken Shiflet will officiate, and interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery at Mingo.
