Okey Delauder

Mr. Okey James Delauder, 83, a resident of the Hunter’s Fork Community near Belington, departed this life early Saturday morning, Jan. 12, 2013, in the Acute Care Facility at Broaddus Hospital at Philippi. He had been in declining health for quite some time.

He was born July 27, 1929, at Belington, a son of the late Wennison “Wimp” Delauder and Lanie Mae Cross Delauder Lantz. He had never married.

Mr. Delauder is survived by several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Delauder, Junior Delauder and Bernard Delauder; and two sisters, Belva Audra Delauder and Beryl Jean Tenney.

In his earlier years he attended the Lambert Chapel United Methodist Church and the Hunter’s Fork Church, which he enjoyed very much. Okey formerly sold the “Grit” newspaper and enjoyed looking at his Bible and visiting friends.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Poling officiating. Interment will follow in the Lambert Chapel Cemetery near Belington.
