Ruth Christine “Christy” Shaffer, 66, of Bayard, went to be with our Lord at the home of her sister, Pam, in Elkins March 18, 2113.
She was born Jan. 17, 1947, at Snyders Crossing in Kingwood, to the late Robert and Carrie Braham DeWitt of Bayard.
She was Methodist by faith, and her wish was to attend Sunday service before her illness prevented her going. She was able to attend services on Sunday before her passing.
She is survived by her long time and loving companion, Robert Broadwater of Bayard; two sons, Jimmy and wife, Linda, of Winchester Va., and Keith and Molly Shaffer of Dailey; and her four younger siblings, David and wife, Debbie DeWitt, of Bayard, Bobby and wife, Kay DeWitt, of Kingwood, Pam and husband, Jim Gifford, of Elkins, and Nanette and husband, Bob VanDevender of Kerens. She is also survived by her grandchildren, that she dearly loved, Heather, Holly, Dustin, Lanaya, Kiersten, Ethan, Kamryn, Hinnika, Alyssa and Isak; one great-grandchild, Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
Christy enjoyed her yearly excursions with her sisters and mother choosing their destination at the last moment, always coming back with great stories. Christy and Robert enjoyed their quiet time eating their favorite coconut pie.
Services were March 20 at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood.
