Harold Zickefoose

Harold Jennings Zickefoose, 86, of Buckhannon, passed away peacefully Monday, March 11, 2013.

He was born June 11, 1926, at Alton, a son of the late Stark and Treva Hunt Zickefoose.

He was happily married for 60 years to Margaret “Chub” Phipps Zickefoose. They were married Jan. 11, 1947, and she passed away Sept. 3, 2007.

Also preceding him in death were son, Ricky W. Zickefoose; daughter, Carol Joyce Zickefoose; and brother, Kelcel V. Zickefoose.

Jennings is survived by one daughter, Shelia K. Gordon of Buckhannon; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Zickefoose of Buckhannon; granddaughter, Kelley Heilman and husband, Ryan, of Bethesda, Md.; grandson, Dustin Zickefoose of Buckhannon; grandson, C.J. Gordon of Buckhannon; great-granddaughter, Piper Elyn Zickefoose; great-grandson, Alexander Thomas Heilman; sister, Virginia Harmon and husband, Delmar, of Warren, Ohio; friend, Thomas “Tommy” Reed of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Zickefoose served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was previously employed by Reynolds Bus Lines, Woody Lumber Co., Ralph Harper Lumber Co. and Number One Auto Sales. He enjoyed gardening and loved evening visits from family and friends.

A special thanks to the staff at Holbrook’s Nursing home for their overwhelming support and ability to enjoy Jennings’ sense of humor.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Camp Cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, American Legion Post 7 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapters 5 and 36 will provide military funeral honors.
