Mrs. Mary Theresa (Tomasi) Hilton, 101, a resident of the Mansfield Place in Philippi, and formerly of Hyattsville Md., and Mechanicsville, Md., departed this life at 10:05 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at the care facility.
She was born Jan. 18, 1912, at Locana, Italy, a daughter of the late Vincent and Jenny Venetti Tomasi.
In August 1933, she was united in marriage to Richard Lincoln Hilton, who proceeded in her in death October 1966.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Lincoln Hilton Jr. and wife, Carol, of Baton Rouge La., Kenneth Gordon Hilton and wife, Karen, of Ocala Fla.; one daughter, Diana L. “Dee” Johnson and husband, Howard, of Philippi.
She was also survived by seven grandchildren, Leann Schmidt, Laura Hallett, Lisa Hamilton, Kathleen Vicchio, Alyson Folse, Rebecca Kropf and Elaina Hilton; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Mary was a graduate of the Gillespie High School, Gillespie, Ill., and was retired from the Federal Communication Commission. She was a member of the East minister Presbyterian Church in Bladensburg, Md., and while living in Barbour County under the care of her daughter, Dee Johnson, had attended the Tacy Cross Roads UM. Church at Tacy. She was a 55-year member of the 111 OES of Cheverly Md. and the OES Peace Chapter of Bowie, Md. She was a Grand officer of the Order of Eastern Star, Grand Chapter of Maryland, was a recipient of the Rose Award and was a 20-year volunteer of the Prince George Hospital in Cheverly. Md.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday March 27, 2013. Graveside services will be at noon on Saturday, March 30, in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery at Bladensburg, Md., where OES Ritualistic services will take place.
