Meredith Blaine “Mert” Depoy, 70, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died March 23 2013, in Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky.
He was born Dec. 30, 1942, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Keith George Depoy and Odice Norma Farrar Depoy.
He was married to Ada Bowyer Depoy.
He was the founder and owner of Mert’s Guns & Ammo, Allen, Ky., a member of Rock Cave Baptist Church in Rock Cave, past commander of French Creek Disable American Veterans, member of National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, Beech Mountain Sportmans Club in Czar, volunteer driver for DAV and a United States Navy veteran.
Survivors are a son; Blaine Wesley and wife, Angela DePoy, of Prestonsburg, Ky.; daughters, Yvette Lynn and husband, Jackson Latta, of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Michelle Leah and husband, Shawn Smith, of Lancaster, Ky.; brothers, Delmas Depoy of Madison, Ohio, and Neil Depoy of Geneva, Ohio; sisters, Bonnie Williams of Nashua, N.H., Sue Zimmer and Patricia Campbell, both of Geneva, Ohio; and grandchildren, Hannah DePoy, Joshua Smith, Wesley DePoy, Loren Stephens, Leah Smith, Rebecca Smith and Cecilia Latta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Depoy.
Visitation was Sunday at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home with funeral services Monday with Grover Dean Jr. and Randy Polk officiating. Local visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Cave Baptist Church in Rock Cave. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Cave Baptist Church in Rock Cave with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at Czar.
