Dollie Yokum

Dollie Gray Mullennex Landsberry Yokum, 86, a former resident of Harman and more recently a resident of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Morgantown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Easter Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. She had been in declining health for the past two years.

She was born Friday, Feb. 25, 1927, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Martin Mullennex Jr. and Olive Gladys Mallow Mullennex.

She was twice married. First to Edward Landsberry, who survives in Ohio. Second, to Homer John Yokum, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Markus and husband, Joe, of Morgantown and Alexandra Hurley of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Randy Henderson and fiancee, Renee, of Harman, Ashley Nicole Markus of Morgantown, Cherri Geaschel and husband, Jim, of Rockford, Ill., Tim Senic and wife, Susan, and Michael Senic and wife, Cheryl, all of Elkins, Heidi Heine and husband, Steve, of St. Louis, Mo.; and seven great-grandchildren, Daniel and Michael Geaschel, Nicholas, Amanda Rose and Jessica Heine, Jordan Michael and Rachel Senic.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death were one brother, John Wesley Mullennex; and one sister, Gelda Gay Cooper.

Dollie was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1946, was a homemaker as well as a loving caregiver to her parents for many years. She was a devout Christian, having been a member of Whitmer Church of God and Harman Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed her grandchildren, shopping, cooking, birds and working in her flower gardens. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and attention to Mrs. Yokum.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday, April 4, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Todd Rhodes will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
