Mrs. Thelma Arline Streets Nims, 80, a resident of Maple Grove, Minn., departed this life on her 80th birthday at 9 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Ambassador Good Samaritan Center at New Hope, Minn. She had been in declining health with a recurrence of cancer, but death was unexpected.
She was born March 30, 1933, at Belington, the youngest daughter of the late Henry D. and Bernice R. Poling Streets.
She was married Sept. 3, 1953, to Louis Hayes Nims, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1986.
Mrs. Nims is survived by one daughter, Deborah K. Jensen (Michael) of Maple Grove, Minn.; one son, Edward D. Nims (Melody) of Burnsville, Minn.; two sisters, Mildred Talbott of Belington and Betty Nugent of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Waddell and Jean Carr.
She was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1949. She had formerly been employed by the Minnesota Twins where she worked in the ticket office. Lastly, she was employed by Wal-Mart, Kmart and Bridgeman’s Ice Cream Inc., retiring in April of 2003.
There will be a private family funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington with Pastor Judy Flynn officiating. Interment will follow in Talbott Cemetery near Belington.
