Mr. Hartsel Huling Suder, 90, a resident of Route, 1 Belington, departed this life at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born Feb. 15, 1923, at Belington, a son of the late Elza Lee and Reta Mae Tenney Suder.
On June 1, 1943, at Buckhannon, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Elizabeth Fallen, who survives at their home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Rosalie Thompson and husband, Lloyd, of Akron, Ohio, Stony Suder and wife, Andy, of Belington, Patsy Zimmerman of Akron, Ohio, Patricia Carr and husband, Gary, of Buckhannon, Rocky Suder of Belington, Ronnie Suder and wife, Diane, of Belington and Vicki Donavon of Akron, Ohio; and one sister, Josephine Kittle of Belington. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Everson, Cloy Oldaker and Sylvia Everson; four brothers, Wilbert, Denver, Omar and Norris Suder; one son-in-law, Bob Zimmerman; and one great-grandson.
Mr. Suder attended the schools of Barbour County. He was a former coal miner and before his retirement was self-employed as a timber cutter. Hartsel enjoyed flea markets, was an avid hunter and in his former days enjoyed riding his four-wheeler.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 1, and again Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor James “Oz” Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery near Buckhannon.
