Jean Hopkins

Jean Nold Hopkins died peacefully Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at her home in Sutton, after a year-long fight with pancreatic cancer.

She was born Aug. 16, 1939, at Sedalia, Mo., to the late Adolph and Lorene Nold.

She married Bill Hopkins June 9, 1957, at Sedalia.

As a military wife and wife of a pastor, Jean lived throughout the United States including Guam and settled in West Virginia, where they have lived the last 39 years. Jean served with her husband at Faith Baptist Church in Beverly and First Southern Baptist Church in Sutton.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Hopkins; and grandson, Nathan Robinson.

Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Hopkins. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mark Robinson of Sutton; daughter and son-in law, Tena and David Facemire of Sutton; grandson and family, Justin, Tracy, Mark, Rebecca and Heather Robinson of Cary, N.C.; and granddaughters and family, Niki, Joey, Sydney, Joal, and Ira Ransbottom and Mandy, BJ, Logan and Connor Payne of Sutton.

“Grandma Jean,” as she was lovingly known, was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and the Sutton Elementary School family, where she worked as a foster grandparent.

A service to honor the life of Jean will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at First Southern Baptist Church in Sutton with her husband, Pastor Bill Hopkins, officiating.
