Kathleen Avre Smith, 82, of Parkersburg, passed away May 14, 2013, in Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.
She was born in Webster County, Nov. 18, 1930, a daughter of the late Ray L. and Rosa B. Hamrick.
Kathleen had worked for St Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon where she met her husband, the late Carl W. Smith. She had worked at G.C. Murphy’s in Buckhannon and then for W.T. Grant in Ravenswood. She was a PUFL member of American Legion Post 15.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Cherie L. Stallings and Jeffery of Houston, Texas; brother, Porter and Betty Hamrick of Indian Head, Md.; sisters, Betty Love and John of Clearwater, Fla., and Ernestine M. Stephen of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Smith; son, Carl W. Smith II; sisters, Elanor Samples, Addlene Hedrick, Fern Brown, Mildred Bunner and Imogene Hamrick; and brothers, Kenny Hamrick, Thurmond Hamrick, Stuart Hamrick and Dale Hamrick.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with the Rev. Todd Hill officiating. Burial will in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
