Marjorie Huff

Marjorie Ann Newell Huff, 92, a former resident of the Auviltown community, St. George, and for the past five years a resident of Concord, N.C., departed this life Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, in Morningside Assisted Living at Concord, N.C., with her family at her side.

She was born Friday, Oct. 22, 1020, at Mannington, a daughter of the late John Harman and Ethel Gay Heckert Newell.

On Jan. 20, 1943, she was married to Ralph Rodney Huff, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, John Rodney Huff of Delta, Pa.; four daughters, Linda Lou Blades and husband, Randall Albert, of Spring Hill, Fla., Cynthia Gay Phillips of Gulfport, Fla., Nancy Sue Kapp and husband, John, of Concord, N.C., and Tish Marguerite Sanchez and husband, Jose, of Harrisburg, N.C.; two sisters, Barbara Joan Hovatter of Lewisburg and Shirley Elizabeth Perry of Erie, Pa.; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Mannington High School. Her most important position in life was her role as a homemaker. In addition to raising her family, she was employed in varied positions throughout the years and served as a volunteer in school, civic and religious organizations. She was an avid reader, and she was known for her love of animals, her sense of humor and her many acts of kindness. In honor of her husband’s 26 years of service in the United States Navy, a private graveside service will be conducted in West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Pastor James E. “Eddie” Martin will officiate, and interment will follow.
