On Sunday, May 26, 2013, Mary Anna Lewis departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born Nov. 2, 1936, at Grant Town, to Michael and Mary Crisan Popp, who preceded her in death.
Mary leaves behind her husband Jack, whom she married Aug. 22, 1955, in Fairmont.
She also leaves behind three daughters, Mari Lewis of Weirton, Cheryl Sturm and husband, Budd, of Farmland, Ind., and Patti Lewis of Elkins; four grandchildren, Crystal Sicilia of Pennsylvania, Karhma Dent of Indiana, Sean Westfall of Arizona, and Nicole Osborne of Pennsylvania, along with seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Three sisters, Eva M. Popp of Elkins, of whom Mary was a loving care taker, Delores Doak of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Elinor Fox of New York; one brother Michael Popp and his wife, dearest, Gail Popp, of Marietta, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding her in death was one son, Jack Lewis Jr. who passed away in 2009.
Mary had a passion for life and enjoyed many hobbies which included organic gardening, cooking, baking and sewing. She loved going to auctions, flea markets, yard sales and she had many business adventures. She was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church and the Rosary Guild of the church. Even though she will be greatly missed by her family, we rejoice in knowing that she is in a much better place and wouldn’t trade places with us for anything.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 29, at St. Brendan Catholic Church from 10 until 11 a.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Wednesday from the church with the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery.
Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mary Anna Lewis. Condolences may by expressed to the family at www.tomblynfuneralhome.com.
