Sharon Paulette Hawkins, the strongest woman we know, a super mom that is what we lost – a motivator, a guide, a kindred spirit, a gentle hand, a daughter, a sister, a wife, mom, grandmother, friend and a very kind independent woman.
She passed away on May 10, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She taught us that you could do anything, be anything, and make a difference. A woman of determination, she believed in God and had no fear. Sharon was very dedicated to helping others before she would help herself and loved her family and community.
She was a 4-H leader, Kanawha Run Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Alton CEOS.
She was born in Braxton County to the late Paul Pearson Gregory and Mabel Lucy Mollohan on Nov. 18, 1946, 66 years ago.
She enjoyed the community of many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Sharon married Joseph Hawkins and loved him for 43 years. They have four children, Neil Hawkins, and wife Lori, of Parkersburg, Kimberly Fogle and husband, David, of Front Royal, Va., Amy Tenney and husband, Michael, of Tallmansville, and Karen Gerard, and husband Dominick, of Morgantown.
She will also be missed by two brothers, Keith Gregory of Falls Mill, and Paul Gregory of Normantown; and six grandchildren: Joshua Tenney, Mya Tenney, Lane Tenney, Nicholas Hawkins, Chase Hawkins and Ava Gerard.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Pleasant Dale Community Church, where the body will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, with Rev. Bradley Tenney, Rev. Kara Philippi and Rev. Lonnie Ramsey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
