Shirley Eye

Shirley Jean Snyder Eye, 76, of Red Creek, went to be with her sweet Savior May 11, 2013.

She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family after an enduring battle with a debilitating illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Harman, the daughter of the late Freda Rachel Blewitt Snyder and Curtis Cooper Snyder.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John J. Eye; daughter, Leslie and son-in-law, Timothy Worley; son, Thomas Schonne Eye and daughter-in-law, Roseanne Lamont Eye; and four precious granddaughters, Kirsten and Kara Worley and Abbey and Carley Eye, who Shirley adored.

In addition to her sister, Mary Ruth Snyder Elza of Whitmer, she is survived by many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Genivee Snyder Hughes; and infant brother, Paul Curtis Snyder. Mrs. Eye was a member of the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church. She was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked diligently for many years at Reidboard Brothers Sewing Factory in Elkins, and then at Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks. She was an active member of the Flanagan Hill Farm Women’s Club for many years. Her compassionate heart and legacy will carry on for many generations.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dry Fork Assembly of God. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow at Flanagan Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 451, Dry Fork, WV 26263.
