Margaret Elinor Wolfe Ramsey, 87, of Elkins, departed this life June 13, 2013, in Valentine Personal Care Home, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins. The Rev. Kevin Starcher will officiate, and interment of the cremains will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Margaret Ramsey

Margaret Elinor Wolfe Ramsey, 87, of Elkins, departed this life June 13, 2013, in Valentine Personal Care Home following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born March 21, 1926, in Elkins, the younger daughter of Cletious V. Wolfe and Bertha C. Wolfe.

On June 15, 1947, she was married to John C. Ramsey of Elkins.

Surviving are two sons, John C. Ramsey II and wife, Carol, and Barry L. “Chip” Ramsey and wife, Brenda; four grandchildren, Melody Costello (Todd), Gail Ramsey, Jarod Ramsey (Lacy) and JoAnne Ramsey; and 11 great-grandchildren, Emily and Kacey Costello, Madison Elkevizth, Ethan Gasser, David and Taylore Mendieta, Grace, Audrey, Alexandra and Katelyn Ramsey and Morgan Winters.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband John C. Ramsey; parents Cletious and Bertha Wolfe; sister, Catherine Polino; and great-grandson, Tyler John Costello.

During her life Margaret was an active member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a dedicated member of the choir, often singing solos with her lovely soprano voice. She was a member of the Eastern Star and performed volunteer work with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Memorial General Hospital. Margaret was an avid bowler and loved joining her teammates for their league games. Margaret kept in touch with many family members and friends over the years. She received great joy in seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At her request, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church followed by a gravesite interment, at a time to be announced.
