Mary K. “Kate” Warder, 82, of Ona Street, Grafton, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Donna Mayle’s residence.
She was born May 18, 1931, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Alma Hickman McCoy.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Joseph A. Warder; four children, Mary Jane Peppler and husband, Grey, of Tampa, Fla., Nancy Jo White and husband, David, of Berkley Springs, Charles F. “Chuck” Warder and wife, Michelle, of Huntington and Oran E. Warder and wife, Barbara, of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren, Kristie House, Jacqueline Holbert, Benjamin Warder, Emily Warder, Zachary Warder, Griffin Warder and Wesley Warder; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Cohen, Jessica Massie, Justin Massie, Jared Massie and Luke Massie; four sisters, Henrietta Haynes of Cross Lanes, Ruth Hackney of Los Angeles, Calif., Connie Lawver of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sarah Gray of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Tom McCoy and Larry McCoy both of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Amy Warder; four brothers, Sidney, Ralph, Joseph and Jim McCoy; and one sister, Josephine McCoy.
Kate was a teacher’s aide for the Taylor County Board of Education and retired from the Taylor County Sheltered Workshop as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of Naomi Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifelong member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church of Grafton.
The family will receive friends at Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton Wednesday, June 19, from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Bird officiating. Interment will follow in Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
