Michael Ray Scott, 42, a resident of 211 Railroad Ave. in Junior, departed this life Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. Death was unexpected.
He was born Sept. 28, 1970, at Hagerstown, Md., a son of Donald Ray Scott, who survives at Junior, and the late Frances Yvonne Corley Scott.
Mr. Scott is survived by one son, Tyler Ray Scott of Junior; two brothers, David Scott and wife, Janna, of Verona, Va., and Larry Scott and wife, Nancy, of Beverly; and one sister, Willa Gainer and husband, Louis, of Hedgesville. Also surviving are a loving companion, Donna Talbott; a host of young men that he thought of as his own; and many many friends. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, April Scott.
Mr. Scott graduated from Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1988. He was a 4-H volunteer for 25 years and was an archery and air pistol instructor during 4-H camp. He was a member of the first Barbour County National Championship Land Judging Team, was a referee for Barbour County Youth Soccer, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. Mr. Scott was the manager of the Elkins Shop ‘n Save. He was a father, son, brother, uncle and best friend. He will be sadly missed by all.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 5 to 9 p.m. and again Friday from 8 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery at Junior.
