Michael Ray Summerfield, 53, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1960, in Elkins, a son of the Rev. Ralph Summerfield of Mill Creek and the late Olive Daniels Summerfield.
He was married to Katherine “Kitty” Gilmore Summerfield who survives in Mill Creek.
Also surviving are one son, Brandon Michael Summerfield at home; and four daughters, Brittany Suzanna Summerfield and fiance, Anthony Pritt, of Princeton, JoAnna Michaelle Summerfield and fiance, Loren George, BreAnna Mae Summerfield and DeAnna Jean Summerfield, all of Mill Creek. Three brothers, Gary, Randal and Roger Summerfield, all of Mill Creek; one sister, Brenda Koerner of Helvetia; one grandson, Axel Anthony Pritt; and Michael’s mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Galen Gilmore of Mill Creek also survive.
Also preceding him in death were two infant twins, Jason and Joshua Summerfield.
Michael was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and had worked as an equipment operator for the West Virginia Division of Highways until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and handyman who loved to work and help people. He was a member of Mill Creek United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. On Sunday, July 7, Michael will be moved to Mill Creek United Methodist Church where friends may call from 1 until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Harold L. Langevin Jr. will officiate, and interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
