Ruth Anne Coffman Carte, 73, of Vienna, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Arbors of Marietta following a courageous battle with cancer.
A daughter of the late John Lionel Coffman and Flora Harpold Coffman, she was born in Charleston on June 30, 1940.
She was a 1958 graduate of Dunbar High School and, prior to her marriage, was employed at Union Carbide in Institute. She was married at McKinnon Presbyterian Church on Dec. 5, 1959, to John Wesley Carte, formerly of Summersville.
She was a member of Cornerstone Church, Vienna.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Diane Carte of Washington and John and Heather Carte of Elkins; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jeff Rogers of Little Hocking, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua Yoho, Jennifer Carte, Kristina Carte, Corey Hamilton, John Wesley Carte III, Raighan Carte and Kenadi Carte; great-grandchildren, Evan and Madalyn; sister, Elsie Waybright of Parkersburg; and sisters-in-law, Shelly Coffman of El Paso, Texas, and Mary Coffman of St. Petersburg, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald L. Coffman of El Paso, Texas, and John L. Coffman Jr. of Madiera Beach, Fla.
Per her request, Ruth’s body has been donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Cornerstone Church in Vienna. The family would like to thank all of those who have given their support.
