Estelle Genevieve Kitchen ‘Genny’ MacVean

Estelle Genevieve Kitchen “Genny” MacVean, age 81 years, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2013, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, Mrs. MacVean will be moved to the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where friends may call from 1-2 p.m. At 2 p.m., Sunday, a funeral service will be held at the church. Bishop Alex Black will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Estelle Genevieve Kitchen ‘Genny’ MacVean

Estelle Genevieve Kitchen “Genny” MacVean, age 81 years, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2013, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins.

She was born Saturday, Feb. 13, 1932, at Gemoca, a daughter of the late Edward Alexander and Thelma Charline Fink Kitchen. On March 20, 1954, in Oakland, Md., she was married to Donald Owens MacVean, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Ruth Ellen Peters and husband, Rex, Bridgewater, Va.

Preceding her in death is one sister, Carole Yvonne Kaylor.

Genny was a graduate of Ansted High School in Ansted, with the class of 1950, and was a graduate of the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1953.

She was a Registered Nurse, having worked at the Davis Memorial Hospital for many years, the former Memorial General Hospital and the former Elkins Convalescent Home. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed knitting and camping.
